Race Plan

The Race Plan is a customized training cycle (up to 16 weeks long) for a specific race of the client’s choosing. To start, runners complete the Runner's Questionnaire and 30 minute introductory phone or video call. From here, I design their personalized race plan from start to finish. While I'm available for general questions along the way, I do not make any changes to the plan or offer feedback on individual runs.

This plan is best suited for runners who want the precision of a personalized plan but prefer to train independently.

Monthly Plan

Highly personalized, the Monthly Plan is collaborative at every level. Like the Race Plan, intake consists of the Runner's Questionnaire and 30 minute introductory call. This plan also includes in-app coach feedback on workouts, allowing an added layer of communication and support. The Monthly Plan is typically written in two week increments, unless an athlete prefers the entire plan upfront. This allows for ongoing plan tweaks and adaptations to keep athletes feeling at their best. Additionally, athletes can take advantage of one 30-min phone or video call per month to discuss:

-How they are responding to workouts and workload
-Identify, discuss, and troubleshoot challenges
-Develop a clear focus for the next phase of training

Learn To Run Program

New to running or wanting to reset those foundational habits? The Learn to Run program is for you! 8 weeks in length, this program strategically combines walking and running to help safely build your mileage and make it to the starting line of a 5k injury-free!

Runners complete the New-To-Running Questionnaire to give me insight into their athletic history, goals, and preferred 5k race. This plan incorporates strength training, cross training and walk intervals for variety and functionality.

My Coaching Approach

Polarization

In order to improve as a runner, a person needs intentional variation, or polarization, in their training paces. Many runners attempt to run even their so-called “easy” runs (which comprise 80-90% of weekly mileage) at a blistering pace, leading to burnout and injury. On the other end of the spectrum, athletes often aren’t running fast enough on speed days to actually build significant leg turnover. Most recreational runners need a wider color palette of running speeds - used at strategic times - to see the most growth in their ability.

I help runners uncover and master their optimal training paces so that they are able to safely and effectively build aerobic and anaerobic fitness.

Flexibility

Let’s face it: life rarely goes according to plan, and neither will your running. I am a coach who will give you a clear plan but with full liberty to make changes that empower you. Illness, injury, and unexpected life events sometimes prevent us from pounding the pavement according to what our running schedule prescribes —- and that’s ok! I teach my athletes to listen to their bodies so that they work with them, not against them. Some days this means pushing the pace; other days it means knowing when to stop and try again another day.

What should you expect from working with me?

Wholistic Mindset

All of life is connected. If you are stressed, your running will suffer. If you aren’t eating enough, your running will suffer. If you aren’t sleeping, your running will suffer.

I look at my athletes holistically —- as people first —- and encourage them to think of themselves that way, as well.

Thus, I encourage my athletes to take an interest in sleep quality, fueling for athletic performance, strength training, proper warmups and cooldowns, recovery, and stress management. Knowledge in these areas translates directly to safer (and faster!) running.

Goal-Driven

For many runners, hiring a coach comes with the expectation of faster race times. I love understanding not only on what an athlete is hoping to get out of their running, but why they are willing to make the sacrifice. When an athlete knows exactly what they seek to accomplish and the motivation behind the goal, it makes the training grind more palatable.

Goals can extend beyond getting faster, however. Maybe the goal is to prevent injury, increase self-confidence, or complete a 5k. Whatever your goal is, it’s valuable to me, and I want to help you meet it.
