It has to do with what you eat, how you sleep, your stress level, strength training, whether you trust yourself, and how inspired you are. Knowledge about how to optimize the non-running activities makes you a better runner!

Featherstone Nutrition
Meghann Featherstun (Registered Sports Dietician and 2:50 Chicago Marathoner) offers a plethora of delicious and easily-prepared recipes that focus on optimizing an ideal balance of fat, protein and carbs to fuel performance. Meghann also also offers valuable information on how to carb-o-load with the right way.
Strength Training
Roar by Stacy Sims
Stacy Sims shares her knowledge as an exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist in a book that specifically zeroes in on female physiology. Sims believes that “women are not small men” and thus need specific training adaptations congruent with their monthly menstrual cycle. Eye-opening and validating, you will fill find illuminating information on female hormones, fueling tweaks at certain times of the month, and how to effectively structure strength training.
Nourish Move Love Youtube Channel + Blog
It can be overwhelming to know when and how to start incorporating strength work into your routine, especially if you are short on time or don’t have access to a gym. NML has a long list of at-home workouts under 30 minutes that focus on classic, functional movements to effectively build strength and endurance.
Strength Running
Founder Jason Fitzgerald has comprised a rich information hub for runners who want to build strength, run faster, and prevent injury. In addition to his popular High Performance Lifting and Bodyweight Power programs, Jason also has a vibrant YouTube channel with a series of follow-along routines you can do from home.
